Summary
The report aims to present the work of Slavic Languages Department of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of Moscow State University. The Department which was created thirty years ago to meet the nation's needs in highly skilled, language proficient experts in the issues of Slavonic countries has developed a number of practical courses and is currently engaged in teaching Bulgarian, Polish, Czech and Serbian languages for non-linguistic faculties. When the interest in Slavic specializations decreased due to the new social and economic situation, the Department initiated training of language experts posessing the practical knowledge of the language. The "School-University" programme has been initiated together with secondary-school programmes of lyceum type, including those for Bulgarian language. The acquired knowledge does meet the demands for the entrants of the Faculty of Foreign Languages. Next year the first group of the specialists is graduating the University, and this year the second group of specialists in Bulgarian studies is entering the University for "Linguistics and intercultural communication" course. The new phase of Bulgarian studies education is getting started.
