Summary This plenary speech directs attention to the conceptual crisis concerning the subject of Bulgarian studies in the very Bulgarian humanities where the subject has been treated either in the terms of open post-modern understanding of national cultures or of very closed nationalism. The problem is seen as derivating from the general crisis in the idea of Bulgarian national commonwealth in the times of changes. |
