Summary This plenary speech exposes the goals of the meeting „Bulgarian Studies 2001" and offers an attempt for naming some of the main problems in the field. It gives also a report on the activity of the Bulgarian Studies Council at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Along with an assessment of the shortcomings and the achievements relevant to the organizing and co-ordinating role of the official Bulgarian institutions, both in the past and in the present day, it makes some concrete suggestions concerning the creation and the realization of a national strategy in the field of Bulgarian studies. |
